A Sydney storage pod costs from $199/month + GST for a 10 cubic metre pod — about the contents of a one to two bedroom apartment — plus a one-off cost to move your things in and out. That’s the whole picture: a monthly storage fee, and a removal at each end. Here’s what sits behind those numbers and how to keep the total down.
The trap with storage pricing is that companies quote one number and leave out the other. So to be clear up front: storage is two costs, billed separately — the monthly pod fee, and the crew time to collect and later redeliver.
The monthly pod fee
- From $199/month + GST for one 10m³ pod
- Billed by the calendar month, one-month minimum, then month-to-month
- Cancel with 30 days’ notice
- A second pod is added at the same rate if you need more space — you’re never pushed into a half-empty bigger container
What that $199 buys that a cheap container doesn’t: an indoor, climate-protected warehouse under CCTV with restricted access — not a shipping container baking in a yard — and a sealed pod that stays closed the whole time it’s with us, rather than your things on shared shelving.
How many pods you’ll need
Pod count is the main driver of the monthly cost, so size it honestly:
| Home | Pods | Rough monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1-bed apartment | 1 pod | from $199/month + GST |
| 2-bed apartment or unit | 1–2 pods | $199–$398/month + GST |
| 3-bed house | 2–3 pods | from $398/month + GST |
| 4-bed house | 3–4 pods | from $597/month + GST |
These are honest ranges — the real number depends on how much you’ve decluttered. We confirm it on a quick walk-through or video call so you’re not paying for empty pod space.
The move in and out
Collection and redelivery are a removal, not storage, so they’re billed at the normal hourly rate:
- From $150/hr + GST for two movers and a truck, three-hour minimum
- Plus a call-out fee based on the distance between your address and our warehouse
- Redelivery is a second short job, priced the same way
A worked example: a studio or tight one-bed usually loads into a single pod inside the three-hour minimum — from $450 + GST for the collection, the same again for redelivery, plus the call-out both times. A two-bed runs longer. Every figure is on your quote before you book.
Storage pods vs self-storage — the honest cost picture
Neither is simply “cheaper.” It depends on how you use it.
A pod usually wins when you’re storing a whole home and want it collected and redelivered (no ute hire, no carrying), and you’ll set it and leave it for a month or several. You pay to have your things touched twice — loaded once, unloaded once — instead of four times.
Self-storage can be cheaper when you’re only storing a few boxes, or you need weekly access and would rather hold your own key and drop things off yourself. If that’s you, we’ll say so.
Our storage page has the full pods-vs-self-storage breakdown if you’re weighing it up.
How to keep the total down
- Declutter first. You pay per pod, so the less you store, the fewer pods. Our guide to decluttering before a move is the biggest single saving.
- Right-size the pods. One well-packed pod beats two half-full ones — we help you judge it on the walk-through.
- Redeliver straight into the new home. Timing the redelivery to your move-in avoids double-handling and a second short-term rental.
- Sort your dates. A shorter storage window is fewer monthly fees — line up settlement or the new lease where you can.
The short version
Budget from $199/month + GST per 10m³ pod for the storage, plus a collection and a redelivery at the hourly rate (from $450 + GST each for a small load) with a distance-based call-out. Declutter to cut the pod count, and you’ve got the whole cost — no hidden pieces.
